Vishwakarmas involved in various skilled professions like blacksmiths, goldsmiths, potters, carpenters, sculptors, masons etc and they produce a wide range of handmade artistic and functional items with their hands and tools although not generate a fair wage for their hard work.

Therefore on the recommendation of the Minister for MSME, GOI launched a new central sector scheme called "PM Vishwakarma Yojana" after identifying initially 18 traditional trades with RS 13,000 crore initial budget estimation for implementing five years up to 2027-28 that helps to support local economies, further to safeguard these traditions for future generations to come in their respective fields through the following components.

Benefits of Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana:

Vishwakarmas who successfully completed three-step verification will avail below benefits.

(1). Recognition:

Pm vishwakarma certificate and pm vishwakarma ID card will be provided digitally as well as in physical form to artisans and craftspeople for the applicant's recognition as a vishwakarma.

(2). Skill Upgradation:

Well-Qualified instructors provide guidance and share practical knowledge in a training centres that cater to understanding the common pitfalls and fixing knowledge gaps through incorporating new designs and tools.

(3). Toolkit Incentive:

Provide Rs 15,000 to procure improved toolkits after skill training in the form of e-Vouchers or eRUPI to enhance their capability, and making quality of products tend to increase the product value.

(4). Credit Support:

Availability of bank loans with low-interest rate to improve their production, purchase raw materials, or expand their business such assistance add an extra layer of preserving cultural practices in their respective trades.

(5). Incentives for Digital Transaction:

Government encourage to vishwakarmas will access to the internet and digital devices to prepare simplifying the process of paying bills online has resulted in earning an amount of Re 1 incentive on each digital transaction monthly up to 100 digital treansactions, that in turn, is a good way to enhance the credit score of skilled jobless workers.

(6). Marketing Suppport:

The National Committee for Marketing (NCM) creating market linkages for the vishwakarmas at multiple levels such collaboration helps in marketing and branding support of their products to reach a wider audience in the following ways, such as:

  • Providing Quality certification to small-scale artisans if they maintain quality and authenticity on their handmade products that certification ensuring consumer confidence for purchasing items and makes it easier for doing global trade business
  • The NCM engages in branding and promotional activities for the vishwakarmas products and services through television ads and runs social media campaigns to reach in remote areas.
  • The NCM will helps and encourage to artisans and craftspeople to effectively use e-commerce platforms like GeM, Khadi India, MSME Mart, etc for selling their locally-made products online.
  • The scheme will allow them to participate in domestic and international trade fairs and exhibitions in order to showcase their handmade products if they register on the Udyam Registration Portal.

(7). Create awareness on central and state sponsored schemes:

Pm vishwakarma yojana highlights the other central schemes benefits in Insurance, pension, and health sectors such as PMJJY, PMSBY, APY, and PMSYM.

Eligibility:

  1. The traditional artisans or craftspeople who engaged in the above specified occupations in the informal sector on a self-employment basis, shall be eligible to apply pm vishwakarma yojana.
  2. The minimum age of the beneficiary should be 18 years on the date of registration. There is no maximum age limit even more than 60 years of age of the artisan or craftsperson will allowed to get benefits.
  3. Only one member of the family is availing benefits under the scheme.
  4. The beneficiary should not have availed loans in the past 5 years in PMEGP, PM SVANidhi, Mudra for self-employment/business development which is calculated from the date of sanction of the loan. However, the beneficiaries of MUDRA and SVANidhi who have repaid their loan, will be eligible under the scheme.
  5. No family member should be in government service.

  1. Aadhar number of the Beneficiary
  2. Aadhar linked Bank account details
  3. Aadhar linked Mobile Number
  4. Ration Card
  5. In case a ration card is not available, the total family members' Aadhar cards must be required to submit at the time of registration.

PM Vishwakarma Yojana apply process:

The only available method for applying for the pm vishwakarma yojana is through the CSCs (common service centres) or online self-application on the PM Vishwakarma Portal but the approach to nearest CSC centers makes the processing experience hassle-free for you. The entire enrollment under this scheme is free of cost to all categories of candidates.

PM Vishwakarma Beneficiary Selection Process:

Verification and approval process typically involves in three-stages.

Stage-1: Initial verification is conducted by Gram Panchayat or ULB level:

All registrations of pm vishwakarma yojana applications are received at the login of the head of Panchayat/Chairman of Village Council or Executive Head/Administrator of the Urban Local Body.

The Gram Sevak/Panchayat Secretary at the village and the same power for the Executive Head in ULB involves in the screening process for scrutinizing the applicant's submitted documents and then forwarding the list swiftly to the respective District level selection committee for further evaluation.

Stage-2: Vetting and Recommendation by the District Implementation Committee:

The District Implementation Committee pushes the application to the office of DC-MSME who in turn sends it to the respective screening committee if the DIC is satisfied with the inputs of previous verifier details aligns with scheme guidelines.

Stage-3: Approval by the Apex Committee:

The state level screening committee shall verify the list, and approve the same after consideration of the recommendation made by the DIC team. Once your application is approved, ensure that you are ready to attend the training sessions as scheduled.

Ans: All types of occupations are mapped with a database of the e-SHRAM portal so that the e-shram data is primarily used for selecting beneficiaries. However not mandatory to enroll in e-shram, others are also eligible if they continue their profession.

Ans: The support provided to both self-employed and small entrepreneurs if they currently rely in the trade on the date of registration.
