ministry of textiles provide eight thousand rupees per month financial assistance to eligible master craftsperson in indigent circumstances .

Handicrafts industry is the main livelihood of the craftsman who creates unique designs of handmade products, such as textiles, pottery, jewelry and woodwork. However major changes in trends over the years, produced machine-made products, changing people's hobbies and interests, and lack of technology invention hit this sector. The youth are not follow in their elder's footsteps, due to opportunities for alternative vocations, while the older persons are not in a position to continue in the profession due to their old age. Those factors led to craftsman constituting a vulnerable section of the society.

After careful consideration of the income vulnerability of the craftsperson, the Ministry of Textiles inviting the applications for Financial Assistance to Master Craftspersons in indigent Circumstances, through this scheme eligible craftspersons draw pension benefit @ Rs 8,000 per month as driven by protecting the traditional art form and inspiring a new generation to create opportunity in employment and earnings.

Who are Eligible?

Master Craftsperson who are the recipient of the Shilp Guru Award, National Award, Merit certificate or State Award in Handicrafts will be eligible for being considered for financial assistance.

Note: The applicant should not be a recipient of similar financial assistance from any other source.

Age Limit:

Those Who have completed the age of 60 years on or before 31st March, 2023 can be eligible to apply. while the age may be relaxed in the case of artisans with disabilities.

Income Certificate:

The annual income of the artisans family should not exceed to Rs. 1,00,000/-

  4. Affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper
  5. Latest Income Certificate
  6. Aadhar Card
  7. Pan Card
  8. Aadhar linked Bank Account
  9. Sadarem in case of any disability.

Who Should Validate Documents?

Award Certificate should be attested by the concerned officer of the Handicrafts service centre/Regional office, before recommended the application to this office.

The award certificate and photograph should be verified and attested by the concerned Assistant Director/Regional office of the office of DC (Handicrafts). The regional language certificate should be submitted duly translated copy in either English/Hindi.

Required affidavit regarding age, Income and non-receipt of any financial assistance from other sources should be countersigned by Direct Commissioner/Dy.Commissioner/District Collector/Ⅰst Class Magistrate as per format

Income certificate issued by the office of the District Magistrate/Revenue Department/Tahsildar/Collector/Circle officer of the concerned state is necessary as a proof of income.

The interested eligible Master Craftsperson may submit their application, which is available on the office website, to the nearest field officer of the handicrafts centre/Regional office of this department by 15-07-2023 or forward the same documents to Headquarter office at New Delhi before 31-07-2023.
