AP BOCWWB Welfare Schemes: Marriage, Maternity & Death Benefits

The Andhra Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (AP BOCWWB) provides financial assistance to registered construction workers and their families during marriage, childbirth, and death-related situations through Labour Department welfare schemes.

This guide covers four key BOCWWB construction worker schemes in Andhra Pradesh in 2026:

  1. Marriage Gift — financial assistance for the marriage of a female worker or a registered worker’s daughter
  2. Maternity Benefit — support after childbirth (self, wife, or daughter)
  3. Funeral Expenses Aid — Financial assistance for the kith and kin of the deceased worker
  4. Natural Death Relief — a larger compensation paid to the nominee

If you or a family member is registered under AP BOCWWB, check your scheme below for eligibility, required documents, and application deadlines — then visit your nearest secretariat to apply through the AP Seva Portal with the help of a Digital Assistant (DA/WEDS).

  • The worker must be registered with AP BOCWWB — either with a currently active membership or one that had expired at the time of the event (for death-related compensation).
  • For Marriage Assistance: the bride must have completed 18 years of age at the time of marriage.
  • Under the AP BOCWWB welfare scheme guidelines, only incidents occurring on or after 1 March 2026 are eligible.

AP BOCWWB Marriage Assistance Scheme

The Marriage Gift Scheme is a one-time payment of ₹20,000 for an unmarried female BOC worker's own marriage, or for up to two daughters' marriages under any registered worker.

The bride must be 18 years or older. The application must be filed within 6 months of the marriage date.

Limit alert: If applications for 2 daughters have already been processed for that registration number, new applications cannot be submitted(alert-warning).

AP BOCWWB Maternity Benefit Scheme

The ₹20,000 maternity benefit for construction workers covers the registered female worker herself, the wife of a registered male worker, and the daughters of any registered worker. For daughters, benefits are limited to two deliveries in total.

Like the Marriage Gift, this scheme requires the member's BOCWWB registration to be valid at the time of application, and should be applied within 6 months of the delivery date.

Also Read: Central Government Maternity Assistance Scheme under PMMVY.

Note:
  • Maternity benefit is available only for deliveries occurring at least 12 months after the worker’s BOCWWB registration date.
  • Only institutional deliveries qualify — at a PHC, government hospital, or private nursing home. Home deliveries are not eligible.
(alert-warning)
Important Note About Daughter Delivery Limit:

Under AP BOCWWB rules, maternity benefits for daughters are limited to a maximum of 2 delivery claims in total across all daughters combined under one labour registration.

This means the limit is not applied separately for each daughter.

Example 1 — Eligible Case:

  • Daughter 1 → 1 delivery benefit claimed
  • Daughter 2 → 1 delivery benefit claimed

Total claims = 2 deliveries → Eligible.

Example 2 — Limit Reached:

  • Daughter 1 → 2 delivery benefits already claimed
  • Daughter 2 → New application submitted
The new application is generally not accepted because the maximum limit of 2 daughter delivery claims has already been exhausted under that worker registration(alert-warning).

AP BOCWWB Funeral Expenses Assistance Scheme

The Funeral Expenses Aid scheme provides ₹20,000 to help the family of a deceased construction worker meet funeral-related expenses. The scheme may also include transportation assistance at ₹20 per kilometre for shifting the body within Andhra Pradesh.

Funeral Expenses Aid is generally intended for work-related deaths connected with construction employment activities. This includes deaths occurring at the worksite, during travel between the worker’s residence and worksite, or while performing employer-assigned duties.

AP BOCWWB Natural Death Relief Scheme

₹60,000 is paid to the nominee or dependent of a registered worker who dies from natural causes.

Unlike the marriage and maternity schemes, applications are accepted for both death schemes, whether the worker's registration was valid or expired at the time of death, but the claim must be submitted within one year of the death date.

Nominee Verification Process

For Funeral Expenses Aid and Natural Death Relief schemes, the claimant’s relationship with the deceased worker is verified during application submission.

If the nominee is already registered in the worker’s BOCWWB family details, the application is processed normally.

If nominee details are missing, Aadhaar-based OTP verification and supporting documents are required before the application can proceed.

In cases where death records are unavailable in government databases, the death certificate must be uploaded manually during submission.

Note: Families can apply for both Funeral Expenses Aid and Natural Death Relief schemes separately for the same death event because each service has its own application process, approval workflow, and payment structure(alert-success).
Important Note About Expired Labour Registrations:

For Funeral Expenses Aid and Natural Death Relief schemes, the worker's BOCWWB labour registration does not need to be active at the time of death. Families can still apply even if the labour card has already expired.

However, the application must be submitted within 12 months from the worker's death date.

Example 1 — Eligible Case:

  • Labour card expired: January 2025
  • Worker died: March 2026
  • Family applied: August 2026

The claim is accepted because from March 2026 to August 2026 is only about 5 months.

Example 2 — Rejection Scenario:

  • Worker died: March 2026
  • Family applied: May 2027
The claim was generally rejected because it was submitted after the 12-month deadline from the date of death(alert-warning).

How to Apply for AP BOCWWB Welfare Schemes

Beneficiaries cannot apply directly on the portal. A Digital Assistant (DA) or Ward Education and Development Secretary (WEDS) at the nearest AP Seva secretariat submits the application on the beneficiary's behalf using an Employee Login.

  1. Visit your nearest AP Seva secretariat with originals and copies of all required documents and your Aadhaar card. The ₹50 processing fee is paid in cash here.
  2. DA logs into the AP Seva Portal using employee credentials, clicks Labour Department, and selects the relevant BOCWWB welfare scheme (Marriage Gift / Maternity Benefit / Funeral Expenses / Natural Death Relief).
  3. Basic details are pre-filled using the applicant's Aadhaar number. Fields that do not auto-populate are entered manually by the DA.
  4. Proceed to the Application Form. Verify BOCWWB worker details and family list that auto-load from the registration database.
  5. Enter event-specific details: marriage date and bride's Aadhaar (Marriage Gift); delivery date, mother's Aadhaar, and child's name (Maternity Benefit); death date and claimant's relationship (death schemes).
  6. Documents are uploaded in PDF format (max 1 MB per file).
  7. Nominee e-KYC is required for death schemes if the nominee is not already listed in the BOCWWB family record. The DA enters the nominee's name and Aadhaar, clicks Send OTP, and verifies via the OTP received on the Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
  8. Click Show Payment to generate the ₹50 payment receipt. The receipt shows the application number, transaction ID, SLA, and secretariat details. This completes the submission.
Tips:
  • For death-related schemes, the deceased member's Aadhaar is entered here. For maternity/marriage, the worker's own Aadhaar is used
  • Track your application status at any time without login by using the Service Request Status Check option.

AP BOCWWB Application Approval Process

Every submitted application passes through multiple approval stages. The District Collector is the final approving authority for valid-registration cases and must e-sign to complete approval or rejection.

After the final e-sign, approved applications are automatically transferred to the Beneficiary Management Portal, and the Swarna Gramam and Swarna Ward Department (SG& SW) processes DBT payment from the APBOCWWB fund to the beneficiary's bank account.

For death schemes where the registration had expired at the time of death, the District Collector forwards the application to the Secretary & CEO of AP BOCWWB. The Secretary & CEO is the final approving authority and must e-sign to complete approval or rejection.

Why the AP Seva Portal Shows “No Details Found” for BOCWWB Schemes

Many construction workers in Andhra Pradesh face a common problem while applying for BOCWWB welfare schemes through the AP Seva Portal. After entering the Aadhaar number, the portal displays “No Details Found” and the application cannot proceed.

In most cases, the issue is linked to labour card renewal, Aadhaar seeding problems, or outdated records in the BOCWWB database.

1. Expired BOCWWB Registration

This is the most common reason, especially for the Marriage Gift and Maternity Benefit schemes. These services require an active labour registration at the time of application.

If the registration has expired, worker details will not appear in the portal, and the application may not proceed until renewal is completed.

Important: Expired labour cards are accepted only for death-related schemes such as Funeral Expenses Aid and Natural Death Relief.

2. Aadhaar Seeding or Aadhaar Mismatch Issues

The AP Seva Portal fetches registered member records using the Aadhaar number linked to the BOCWWB registration. If Aadhaar is not correctly linked to the labour card or contains mismatched information, the system may fail to display worker data.

Common causes include:

  • Incorrect Aadhaar number entered during labour registration
  • Name mismatch between Aadhaar and labour records
  • Wrong date of birth or gender details
  • Old Aadhaar details not updated after corrections
  • Incomplete Aadhaar seeding in older registrations

3. Old Manual Labour Card Records not yet Digitised

Some labour cards issued before the AP Seva system became fully digital were created manually and may not be available in the online BOCWWB database. In such cases, the worker may still hold a valid physical card, but the portal cannot retrieve the worker's record online.

4. Renewal Approved Offline but Not Updated Online

Workers sometimes renew their labour registration, but the updated status does not immediately reflect in the AP Seva Portal. Backend approval or database synchronisation may still be pending at the district level.

5. Newly Registered Labour Card

Fresh BOCWWB labour card holders may not become immediately eligible for welfare schemes. In practice, newly registered labour cards may not immediately appear eligible in AP Seva until beneficiary eligibility conditions and minimum work-period requirements are reflected in the backend system.

6. Incorrect Service Selection in AP Seva

The DA/WEDS must select the correct BOCWWB welfare scheme under the Labour Department section. Choosing the wrong service may prevent worker details from loading properly.

How to Resolve the Issue

Visit the nearest Labour Office (ALO office) with your BOCWWB labour card, original Aadhaar, and renewal receipts. The Labour Department can verify the worker record directly in the backend system, and update Aadhaar seeding if required, and confirm whether the registration is active.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the benefit amount paid?

After approval, the sanctioned amount is transferred directly to the beneficiary or nominee’s bank account through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).

Can the family apply directly at the portal without visiting a secretariat?

No. The AP Seva Portal's labour board schemes require an Employee Login held by a Digital Assistant or WEDS. Beneficiaries must visit the secretariat, where the DA submits on their behalf.

What if the death or birth is not registered in the Civil Registration System (CRS)?

If no CRS data is found, the DA manually enters the death or delivery date, uploads the relevant certificate (death certificate or birth certificate), and selects the applicant's relationship to the deceased or mother. The rest of the application process is unchanged.

Is there a limit on how many times someone can apply for maternity benefits?

Yes. For daughters, the benefit is capped at two deliveries. There is no explicit cap mentioned for self or wife, but each application must fall within the 6-month window from the respective delivery date.

Why do expired labour card cases take longer?

Applications involving expired BOCWWB registrations require additional scrutiny because the worker's membership was no longer active at the time of the event.

Officials may manually verify older labour records, nominee details, registration history, and eligibility conditions before approving compensation.

Unlike active-registration cases, expired-registration death claims are forwarded to the Secretary & CEO of AP BOCWWB for final approval after district-level verification.

This additional approval stage increases the SLA from 32 days to 77 days.

Is the ₹50 fee refundable if the application is rejected?

The ₹50 service fee is generally non-refundable, even if the application is rejected.

Conclusion

For many construction worker families, these welfare schemes become important support during moments that bring both responsibility and financial pressure.

Understanding the correct eligibility rules, timelines, and application process helps avoid unnecessary delays and rejected claims.

Whether the application relates to marriage assistance, maternity support, funeral expenses, or death compensation, proper records and timely submission play a key role in successful approval.
