The Andhra Pradesh Government provides occupational pension categories under the NTR Bharosa Pension Scheme for eligible applicants engaged in specified traditional occupations. These categories include Weavers, Fishermen, Dappu Artists, Traditional Cobblers and Toddy Tappers.
However, working in one of these occupations or belonging to a particular community does not by itself guarantee pension sanction. The applicant must satisfy the NTR Bharosa eligibility conditions, provide the required occupation-related evidence, and undergo the verification process.
This article covers the eligibility conditions, documents, departmental verification and application process for each category.

How Departmental Verification Works for Occupational Pensions
The current Government procedure provides a separate departmental verification stage for occupational categories.
- The applicant submits the new pension application and the required documents at the village/ward secretariat.
- The application undergoes physical verification and supporting-document checks.
- For occupational categories, the application is forwarded through the WEA / WWDS to the concerned district-level departmental officer login.
- The concerned department verifies the occupation-related eligibility and updates the verification details.
- The application then proceeds through the MPDO / MC scrutiny, recommendation and state-level approval process.
- For Weavers, Fishermen, Dappu Artists, Traditional Cobblers and Toddy Tappers, the concerned state-level department has a role in finalising eligibility or ineligibility before the case is sent onward for the next stage.
The current Government memo specifically states that applications for these occupational categories are subject to departmental verification and identifies the respective state-level departments responsible for the categories.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a caste certificate prove that someone is a toddy tapper?
A Tappers Co-operative Society is primarily composed of persons engaged in toddy tapping. Under the 2007 AP Excise Rules, at least 80% of its members must be tappers as defined under the Rules. The Rules do not require all society members to belong to one particular caste or community. However, the toddy shops in Scheduled Areas are assigned only to Scheduled Tribes.
Can a Weaver Pehchan Card Be Used for NTR Bharosa Weavers Pension?
No. A Weaver Pehchan Card is issued under the Government of India's handloom-weaver identification system, whereas the certificate required for this pension is issued by the Andhra Pradesh Handlooms & Textiles Department.
Is the free current scheme eligibility necessary to get weaver pension in AP?
Eligibility for the Free Power to Handloom Weaver Households scheme is not a separate condition for NTR Bharosa Weavers Pension.
Can an NFDP Certificate Be Used for NTR Bharosa Fishermen Pension?
An National Fisheries Digital Platform (NFDP) certificate may provide evidence of fishing-related registration, but it should not be treated as a substitute for the certificate required under the NTR Bharosa pension guidelines.
The pension guidelines require a certificate from the Department of Fisheries. Therefore, the applicant should confirm with the Fisheries Department.
Is the Dappu Artist ID Card Valid for Dappu Artist Pension?
Yes. If the applicant was previously issued a Dappu Artist ID card by a District Public Relations Officer (DPRO) or by the District Tourism and Culture Department, that card can be produced as supporting evidence of the applicant's association with Dappu art.
Conclusion
None of these NTR Bharosa occupational pensions are granted on caste or community membership alone. Each department verifies the relevant occupation and issues the required supporting certificate or document. The applicant must then satisfy the remaining NTR Bharosa eligibility conditions during the pension application process at the concerned Secretariat.
Applicants should identify the applicable occupational category, prepare the required supporting documents, and complete any departmental verification before approaching the concerned Secretariat.
